Instructor: Rich Carlson
Is canyoneering safe? No. It is fraught with risks. It includes all of the risks associated with any outdoor activity, plus all of the risks associated with rock climbing and rappelling, plus a few more risks that are unique to canyoneering due to the presence of water. If you want to be safe, stay home on the sofa. If you want to go canyoneering, you are wise to learn and practice ways to mitigate risks.
In this workshop we will discuss how to identify objective and subjective hazards, how to do an effective risk assessment, and simple controls that you can implement to mitigate risks. PLUS, tips and tricks from Rich’s four decades of canyoneering experience.
